This December we’re holding our Community Wellbeing Sessions for Grant Partners on a Monday, at 5.30pm

11 December, 2023 , 5:30 pm 6:30 pm

To meet the needs of our community, we have amended the time of this final session. This session will focus on rest, appropriate as we approach the end of the year.

In previous sessions, we held space to support our self and collective wellbeing needs through a mix of gentle activities including movement, breathing, music/sound, community sharing, and other somatic practices to support our rest, healing, self and co-regulation.

Our spaces are guided by Dil Wijeyesekera (she/they) a wellbeing practitioner, social justice organiser, and co-founder of Freedom Rising an emergent space dedicated to community-led strategies for healing and wellbeing with, by and for Black and Global Majority folks. Dil integrates somatic, embodied and trauma informed practices drawing on our wisdom traditions and nature as a way to reclaim these practices in support of our love and liberation.

To read more about Dil and their practice, have a look at this blog post.

For those of you who are new to this kind of thing ❤ activities and sharing within the space are always optional and folks are encouraged to do/be in ways that feel right for you. In general, you’ll be encouraged to clear this time so you can be present to yourself, bring your cosy things (pillows/blankets/wear comfy clothes/be on your bed or couch or other happy place) and bring anything else that is dear to you and can support your ease (a picture, object, poem).

For many of us, colonisation and the capitalist systems we live within, have told us that wellbeing is not for us – it’s an add on, a luxury, often appropriating and tokenising practices created by our ancestors, something only to be enjoyed by those holding power and privilege in our societies. As we commit to loving and healing ourselves more deeply, we recommit to the justice, resistance and liberation journeys we’re each on – recognising that our capacity for individual and collective healing, resting, loving and dreaming is core to pursuit of justice and dignity.

The invitation is open to groups in our grant cohort – the comrades, co-conspirators, partners, or co-leads of these groups that may benefit from the space.

Please email us at synergi.grants@nsun.org.uk to join us, and receive a short access survey for folks to complete, so we can make the space as supportive as possible for everyone.
